Eugene C. Basara, age 90 of Lena, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2015.He was born September 17, 1925 in Chicago, IL, the son of Jakob and Antoinette Basara. Eugene was a member of the 3rd Army Unit, serving in World War 2. He enjoyed polka music along with building rock gardens, bird houses, and cartoon characters out of wood.

Eugene is survived by his wife Phyllis M. Basara of Lena; son Curt (Christine) Basara of Lena; grandchildren- Paul (Laura) Basara of CA, Gloria Basara of Lena, Kim Basara of IL, Peter Basara of Lacrosse, WI, and Zackery (Amber) Basara of Lena; step-children- Susan Wilson of Carpentersville, IL, Steven (Donna) Creek of Eagle Rock, MO, Robert Creek of Rolling Meadows, IL, and Ronda Reynolds of Carpentersville, IL; numerous great grandchildren; brother Daniel (Adrian) Basara of Mchenry, IL; and nephews Bruce and Brent.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Caroline, parents, brother Stanlie, sisters- Stella, Leona, Margie, Janette, and Gusty.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

Interment will take place at Dundee Township Cemetery.
