Obituary

Eric J. Gustason, age 27, of Lena, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Mercyhealth Hospital in Janesville, WI. He was born on May 3, 1991 in Freeport, IL, the son of David and Tammy (Wand) Gustason.

He was a 2010 graduate of Lena-Winslow High School and was working at Stateline Dairy Products.

Eric was passionate about music and sports. He enjoyed playing his guitar, listening to many different styles of music, and watching the Minnesota Vikings, Wisconsin Badgers, and Chicago Blackhawks. He was an animal lover and also enjoyed watching motocross races, which he participated in throughout his childhood. Eric was a kind, genuine, and compassionate person and always made time for his friends and family, especially his brother and sister.

Eric is survived by his parents, David and Tammy Gustason; brother, Alex Gustason; sister, Debbie Gustason, all of Lena; grandmother, Harriett Gustason; grandfather, Fritz Lancaster; aunts and uncles, Mary Anne (Duane) Janssen, Margaret (Paul) Majors, Derek Hong, and Tom Holmes; several cousins, great aunts, great uncles, many friends; and his kittens, Bubbles and Erra. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Gustason, Elmer Wand Jr., and Alice Wand; aunts and uncles, Janet Hong, Deborah Gustason, Randy Gustason, and Wayne Sword.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Leamon Funeral Home in Lena, IL. There will be a visitation from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Friday, October 5, 2018 and again from 12:00 Noon - 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Leamon Funeral Home in Lena.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Pastor Randy Nicholas will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his memory. Eric gave the gift of life to many others, due to his selflessness, by being an organ donor.
