Edwin R. Gollmer, 83, a longtime Freeport and Lena resident, passed away on September 30, 2025 at the Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, WI.

Ed was born on May 3, 1942 in Lena, IL, the son of Ray and Veva (Sigafus) Gollmer.  He married Kathleen Hintz on April 7, 1970 in Los Gatos, California and she preceded him in death on August 23, 2003.  Edwin served his country as a member of the Army 101st Airborne Division from1967-1969 during the Vietnam Conflict.  He then worked a few blue collar jobs until starting his own business Custom Carpets and Remodeling in Freeport.

He is survived by his son Brian (Mary) Gollmer of Phoenix, AZ; grandson Nicholas and granddaughter Kylie; brother Richard Gollmer of Forreston, IL; sister Diane Wubbena of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 33 years, Kathleen, as well as by his partner of 19 years, Donna McGinnis French.

Cremation rites to be accorded.

Private family services to be held.

Interment will take place at the Lena Burial Park.
