Edward K. Meyer, 71, of Winslow, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on July 2, 2026. He was born on October 28, 1954, in Monroe, Wisconsin, to Edna (Stroup) Meyer who raised him with Ken Meyer.

Ed graduated from Pearl City High School, where he excelled in athletics and developed a lifelong love of sports. He always enjoyed sharing stories from his playing days with family and friends, often reliving favorite memories with the same enthusiasm as when they first happened.

A carpenter by trade throughout his entire adult life, Ed built more than walls and ceilings—he built a reputation for hard work, honesty, and craftsmanship. He eventually founded Meyer Drywall, which he proudly owned and operated alongside his son, Shaun, for more than 35 years. Working with his son was one of the many joys of his career.

On July 8, 1992, Ed married the love of his life, Deanna Schunk, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they created a home where everyone felt welcome and where family always came first.

Ed loved his family unconditionally and was fiercely loyal to those he loved. Nothing brought him more happiness than having his house filled with family and friends. He was happiest in the kitchen preparing big meals, knowing everyone would leave with full hearts, full stomachs, and container after container of delicious leftovers. His holiday gatherings became cherished traditions, remembered as much for the laughter around the table as for the meals he lovingly prepared.

Family game nights were another favorite tradition. With Etta James or Johnny Cash playing in the background, Ed was always ready for a spirited game of Euchre, where his competitive side and quick wit were on full display.

Coming in only second to his love for family, was his love of golf. Every summer he made it his mission to gather the golfers in the family and get everyone out on the course together. Those rounds were about far more than the score—they were opportunities to spend time together, tell stories, and make memories that will be treasured forever. Ed loved a good drink, good fun, and golfing, and he lived by the philosophy of working hard and playing harder.

Ed will be remembered for his kind and generous soul, his unwavering honesty, his deep loyalty, and just enough stubbornness to keep life interesting. Those who knew him will never forget his infectious laugh—a gift inherited from his mother—or the unmistakable joy that lit up his face whenever he was surrounded by the people he loved, sharing a meal he had prepared. His legacy lives on in the traditions he created, the values he instilled, and the countless memories he leaves with those fortunate enough to have known him.

Ed is survived by his wife, Dee, of Winslow; his five children, Tiffany (Mark) Hildebrand of Verona, Wisconsin, Heidi (Aaron Vance) Meyer of Monroe, Wisconsin, Shaun Meyer of Winslow, Carly Meyer of Stoughton, Wisconsin, and Jennifer (fiancée William Godfrey) Meyer of Evansville, Wisconsin; six beloved grandchildren, Lucas, Dylan, and Colton Hildebrand, and Chloie, Waylon, and Swayzie Yoder; three sisters, Judy (Dwayne) Hoffman, Vicki (Dave) Olsen, and Jill (Dave) Shaulis; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, extended family members, and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ray Meyer.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 26, from 12:00-4:00 p.m. at The Ville in Orangeville, Illinois.

A memorial has been established in Ed's memory.
