Edna I. Matz age 90, of Lena passed away on Thursday February 8, 2018 at the Lena Living Center. She was born on October 22, 1927 in Minnesota to Austin and Addie (Garrison) Johnson. She married George Matz on September 6, 1947 in Jackson, MI and together they raised 4 children. She was a Nurse's Aide at Pine River Nursing Home in Minnesota and she worked at Micro Switch for 15 years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Freeport. She enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzles, making afghans, and many rag rugs. She also made prayer shawls for church. Edna was a member of the Eastern Star. She was a great baker, avid reader, and enjoyed gardening with George. George and Edna also enjoyed canning.
Edna is survived by her husband of 70 years, George of Lena, children; Judy Webster of Lena, James Matz of Culpeper, VA, Donald (Carolyn) Matz of Warren, MN, and Jeffrey (Sue) Matz of Freeport, grandchildren; Jeremy (Stephanie) Matz, Melissa (Shayne) Campbell, Marcus (Kelsie) Matz, Josh (Nikki) Matz, and Kaitlyn Matz, Scott (Jill) Webster, and Aaron Webster (Kris), great grandchildren; Alyssa, Olivia, and Caleb Matz, Carter Campbell, Grayson Matz, Zachary and Kenzee Matz, Nathan, Sarah, and Emily Webster, Gary and Brandy Hunt, brothers and sisters; Carol Gealow, Esther (Dennis) Youngberg, Clifford (Shirley) Johnson, Myrthal (Bill) Brown, and Marilyn Erickson, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and step mother Naomi, son-in-law Charles Webster, siblings Crystal, Maxine, Maynard, James and her twin sister Edvina.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Freeport.
A visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of services on Tuesday.
Pastor Eddie Eddy will officiate the services
Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
