Douglas A. Sterchi, 86, of La Moille, passed away April 13, 2021, at the Lena Living Center in Lena, IL, after a 15-year decline from Alzheimer's and genetic dementia.

Doug was born in Mendota, IL on January 5, 1935 to Albert and Elizabeth (Ryan) Sterchi. He married Mary Sheridan on June 14, 1953.

Cremation rites have been accorded and burial of ashes will be at Union Cemetery in La Moille. There will be no services. The Leamon Funeral Home, Lena, IL, is assisting the family, who will hold a celebration of life later.

Doug worked in the printing industry in graphic design for 42 years, retiring in 1997 from R.R. Donnelly, Mendota, he was a self-taught carpenter, building his own home in rural La Moille and living there for over 40 years.

Doug is survived by his caregiver and wife of 67 years, Mary Sterchi of La Moille; a daughter Sue (Dan) Ensrude of Mineral Point, WI; two sons Dave (Lynn) Sterchi of Cape Coral, FL and Kim (Donna) Sterchi of Crystal Lake, IL; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph, and four sisters, Mabel Behringer, Marjorie Mudge, Jean Bauer and 2-year-old Betty June Sterchi.
