Dorothy Joyce Wagner passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 24, in the Lena Living Center. Dorothy was born July 17, 1923 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Dr. Edward C. and Esther Sloniker. She graduated from Pecatonica High School in 1941 and Northern Illinois Teachers College in 1945. She taught home economics at Lena High School and met the love of her life Harold Wagner. They were married on July 20, 1946. Dorothy used her teaching skills the rest of her life as she taught her children and grandchildren. She was active in Home Extension, Girl Scouts, Teaching Sunday School, gardening and studying wildflowers.
Survivors include her children, Alice (Mike) Omelusik, Mary (Dwight) Klitzke, Dr. David Wagner, Neal (Kris) Wagner, and Karen (Brad) Otterson. Grandchildren: Carolyn, Amy, Mark, Jennifer, Laura, Matt, Jeff, Sarah, Rachel, Ryan and Chris. Great grandchildren: Charlotte, Lilly, Türe, Griffin, Tessa, Mackenzie, Molly, Ava, and Mya.
She was predeceased by husband and grandchildren Stephen, Amanda, and Joel.
There will be a private graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established by the family.
