Doris Louise Tyson, 98, passed away April 26th, 2014 at Liberty Village in Freeport. Doris was born November 28, 1915 in Rush Township to Roy and Bessie (Flack) Rife. She graduated from Stockton High School in 1933, and married John Sherman Parkinson in 1935. Doris and Sherm farmed in Jo Daviess County for several years before moving to Warren in 1955 to start up Parks Processing Plant, which they operated until Sherm's death in 1969. Doris sold the business and worked briefly for Janlin Plastics in Warren before marrying Dale Tyson in 1971 and moving to Apple River where they operated Tyson's Drug Store until their retirement. After retirement, they enjoyed many winters in Arizona.
Doris enjoyed her many friends and relatives in the area and was never at a loss for words and stories to share with them. She enjoyed golfing at Stockton and in Arizona for many years and was proud of her two holes-in-one. She also enjoyed playing cards and visiting her "gang" at the Stockholders and Sidetrack in Apple River.
Surviving are her daughters, Sally (Rollie) Main of Victoria, IL, Judy (Jim) Opie of Deerfield, WI, son Larry (Barb) Parkinson of Davis, IL, Stepdaughter Mary (Chuck) Reising of Arlington Heights, IL, stepsons Bob (Sharon) Tyson of Beloit, WI, Mike (Karen) Tyson of Apple River, IL and Bill (Elaine) Tyson of Carpentersville, IL, grandchildren Doug, Tim (Julie) and Todd (Elise) Main, Kurt (Patti) Opie, Suzie Linden, Rob (Suzanne) Parkinson, Lori (Shannon) Christiansen, Nicole VanOsdel, Abbey and Matt Reising, Michelle Heyerdahl, Cynthia (Chris) Kramer, Jennifer (Jason) Eubanks, Kristy (Matt) Leitzen, Tom (Gina) and Tim Tyson, 25 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Doris was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, brothers Lyle and Ralph Rife and sister Stella Wilcox, as well as two great grandchildren.
A private family service will be held at Ladie's Union Cemetery in Stockton, IL.
