Donald L. Rowe age 86, of Stockton, formerly of Apple River passed away at 7:00 AM on Saturday December 2, 2017 at his home with his family and a special friend Dixie Wand at his side. He was born on August 13, 1931 in Gratiot, WI to Lloyd and Lela (Gratz) Rowe. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He received many metals for lifetime members of VFW post. He enjoyed time with family and friends and was known for years as "Big Don."

Donald spent years farming and trucking in the area, owned and operated the Pub bar in Warren, owned and operated the Apple Gossip and then moved to Colorado and enjoyed life and delivering mail.

He is survived by his children; Christine Oates of Stockton, IL, Dewey (Jodi) Rowe of Stockton, IL, Rosemary (Tim) Strong of Stockton, IL, Steve (Ruthann) Sersch of Apple River, IL and daughter in law Diane Rowe of Marion, Iowa. 20 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. Numerous Nieces and Nephews and their spouse and children. He also had a dog Cody that he treasured.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sister, wife; Sharon, Sons; Steve and Douglas, granddaughter; Jessica. Many cherished dogs throughout his life.

The family would like to give a special thanks to hospice, nurses, aids, VA Doctors and hospital staff, his friend Val Stocks, and all the special attention from Dixie Wand.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday December 9, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Apple River Community Center with luncheon to follow.

A memorial has been established in his name.
