Donald R. Kraft, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Liberty Village in Freeport. He was born on July 13, 1930 at St. Francis Hospital in Freeport, IL to Jacob and Olive (Kleckler) Kraft. He was in the US Navy Air Corps from 1948-1950. Don married Anna Schultz on April 26, 1956 and she preceded him in death on June 1, 2012. He owned and operated his own gasoline business from 1950-1986. From 1986 to 1995, he worked at the Freeport Water Treatment Plant, after that he sold long distance phone service for 16 years.

Don is survived by his two daughters; Dixie Bottoms and Jody Ann (Brad) Nieman, one step-daughter; Kay Simmons, all of Freeport, three grandchildren; Jacob (Shelby) Holbert, Miranda (Brian) Book, and Nathan Nieman, two step-grandchildren; John and Troy Simmons, two great-grandchildren; Harper and Owen Book, one sister; Rozella Arthur.

He was preceded by his wife, parents, two brothers; Robert and Walter, sister Ruth Hoge.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday December 8, 2018 at the Leamon Funeral Home.

A visitation will be from 12:00 noon till time of service.

Officiating the services will be Wayne Fischer and Fred Woodruff.

A private family burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, IL.

A memorial has been established in his name.
