Donald "Don" Maves age 77, of Freeport passed away after an extended illness on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. Don was born on May 7, 1944, to Robert and Betty  (Bollon) Maves in Freeport, Illinois. He married Mary Dunaway in 1973. He was an Army Veteran that served in the Vietnam War. Don was a Lineman for Northwestern Telephone Co. and Contel. Don was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and just being outdoors.

Don is survived by wife- Mary of Freeport, IL; 3 children- Deb (Jack) Rife of Lena, Scott E. (Teresa) Yount of Cedarville, Sam Maves of Freeport; 7 grandchildren- Robert Knoll, Jacob Knoll, Scott R (Nicole) Yount, Melissa (Scott) Byrne, Camden, Lea and Autumn Maves; 7 great-grandchildren- Saige, Jordan, Kaydan, and Brianna Yount, Wyatt, Jazmyn, and Abygail Byrne; 1 brother- Grant Maves and 1 nephew-Ryan Maves.

He is proceeded in death by his parents.

Per Don's request no services have been scheduled.

Cremation Rites have been accorded.

A memorial has been established in his name.

The family would like to thank the staff at FHN Hospice and the staff at Ascension Living Saint Joseph Village for all the care they received.
