Obituary

David C. McGiveron, 83, of Lena, IL passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021 at Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe, WI.  David was born on April 3, 1937 to Paul and Lorma (Eddy) McGiveron in Orchard Park, New York.  David served his country in the United States Army from 1960-1962 where he was stationed in Germany.  He married Suzanne Smith in May of 1964 in Dubuque, IA.  David attended Cornell University, where he majored in Animal Husbandry and played football.  He worked for Oscar Mayer in Madison, WI and then Philadelphia, PA.  David returned to Marshfield, WI and worked for Weyerhauser Manufacturing.  While in Marshfield, David and his family raised and showed registered Angus Cattle.  He later worked at Hurd Millwork before purchasing Lena Maid Meats and moving to Lena, IL in 1993.

David enjoyed hunting and raising his Angus cattle. In his retirement, he continued his love for the farm by spending many hours on his daughter's family farm. He was a member of the Lena Lions Club, Illinois Association of Meat Processors (Board Member), Wisconsin, Northern Illinois, and American Angus Associations, a 4-H Leader and Central Wisconsin State Fair Board member, and he taught tractor safety.

David is survived by his wife Suzanne "Sue" McGiveron, children- Ray McGiveron, Leanne McGiveron, Dan (Kelly) McGiveron, and Dianne (Paul) Handsaker; grandchildren- Ryleigh, Max, and Jake McGiveron, Garrett and Cheyenne Handsaker, Paul and Josh McGiveron; brother- Paul (Ann) McGiveron; sister-in-law Blanche McGiveron.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Lorma, brother Carl McGiveron, and a son in infancy, Joey McGiveron.

No services will be held per David's request.

A memorial has been established in David's name and may be sent to the 4-H Foundation of Stephenson County at 2998 W Pearl City Road Freeport, IL 61032, St. John's Lutheran Church at PO Box 234, Pearl City, IL 61062, Columbus Catholic Schools at 710 S Columbia Ave. in Marshfield, WI 54449, or the Northern Illinois Angus Association Scholarship Fund at PO Box 25, Pearl City, IL 61062.
