David E. Gruendler age 81, of Lena passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at FHN Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 8, 1936 in Madison, WI to Eberhardt and Edith (Kite) Gruendler. He married Joanne Dawe on October 6, 1984 in Elizabeth, IL. He had worked at Kelly Springfield as a shipping clerk and then as a realtor at Bussian Realtors. He was an active member of Lena United Methodist Church and the Lena Lions Club. He was a trustee on the village board for 6 years. He enjoyed running in marathons, deer hunting, traveling, ballroom dancing and golfing. He and Joanne enjoyed wintering in Florida for over 20 years.

He is survived by his wife Joanne of Lena, daughter; Liz (Denny) Sepiol of Hilton Head, SC, daughter-in-law; Trisha Gruendler of Lake Carroll, IL, one sister; Nancy (Roger) Vistain of Hancock, WI, one brother; Ralph (Donna) Gruendler of San Antonio, TX, step daughter; Barb (Dave) Klever of Elizabeth, IL and Amy (Lenn) Fogel of Lena, IL. Eight grandchildren; Samantha (Ben) Swanson, Jessica (Scot) McArthur, Kathryn (Patrick) Whitehead, Karlee McCarron, Chad McCarron, Shannon McFadden (Fiance' Mike Brown) Nicole McFadden and Daniel Klever. Three great grandchildren; Larissa Gruendler (Fiance' Adam Gill), Jacob Swanson and Joan Whitehead.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son David E. Gruendler Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday February 23, 2018 at the Lena United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 till 8:00 PM on Thursday February 22, 2018 at the Leamon Funeral Home.

Inurnment will be at Lena Burial Park.
