Clarence Roy Van Sickle "Smokey" as known to his friends, was born January 24, 1925 and passed on Sunday, September 24, 2017. Born in Lena, he lived his life in Freeport. Roy worked at Myers Ford Sales for over 45 years. He enjoyed anything to do with trains and was a member of the Stephenson Society of Model Trainsmen.
Roy is survived by his sister, Maude "Mikki" Judd (Jack) of Aledo, Texas, his brother Robert Bone (Jessie) of Freeport, nieces Dania Wolf (Jerry) and Kerri Judd Sawyer (Willard), three great nieces, a great-great nephew and three great-great nieces. For the last nine years, he was affectionately cared for by his close companion Mary Thomas and her dog Daisy Lou. Jan Hefner, his former co-worker and friend, also supported Smokey for over 45 years. His family is greatly appreciative of their dedication to him.
A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017 with a visitation at 10:00 a.m.at Leamon Funeral Home in Lena, IL.
A private, family interment at Lena Burial Park will follow. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
