Charmaine Alice Sandahl, age 97, died peacefully and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 28, 2026. She was born on September 4, 1928 to Henry and Hildur Vernberg. She attended East High School in Rockford, IL. Charmaine married Kenneth Sandahl on October 3, 1954, at Our Savior's Luthern Church in Rockford. Kenneth and Charmaine lived in Rockford, Caledonia and Clinton, WI, before moving to Apple River, IL in 1988 where they farmed for 38 years. Charm helped bale hay, drove tractor, enjoyed working in her flower garden and traveled the world with her beloved husband Ken. Charmaine had worked at the Prince Castle, was a switchboard operator for the telephone company and worked at Tester Glue |Factory. Then was a homemaker and a farm wife.
She was a member of the Cedarville Baptist Church for 30 years. She was a Girl Scout Leader, a Sunday school teacher and greeter at Cedarville Baptist Church. Charm was the world's most loving and caring mother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Charmaine is survived by her husband Ken; children- Sherie Wagner, Tom (Cindy) Sandahl, Jeanine (Bryan) Potts; grandchildren- Crystal (Joe) McCullough, Brooke (Ryan) Hurt, Kent (Rebecca) Wagner, Brent (Dee) Sandahl, Bryce (Kari) Sandahl, Mallory (Andy) Smith, Erica (Tyler) Sears, Kate (Ryan) Spritzer and 22 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Hildur Vernberg, granddaughter Lori Anne Wagner, and son in law Dale Wagner.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Cedarville Baptist Church, Cedarville, IL.
No Visitation will be held.
Luncheon to follow the service.
Internment will be at the Elmwood Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name for the SSM Monroe Hospice Care.
