Carol J. Saavedra, age 73 of Lena, passed away suddenly at FHN Hospital in Freeport on December 25, 2018. She was born September 12, 1945 in Freeport, IL to Clarence and Florence (Tipton) Wickler. She married Henry Saavedra October 26, 1968 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lena.

She was also a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary in Lena, Freeport VietNow Chapter and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lena.

She enjoyed spending her time with her daughters and grandchildren. She was looking forward to an upcoming family trip to Germany to visit the villages of where her grandparents lived.

She is survived by her husband Henry of Lena; 2 Daughters- Tracie (Randy) Slamp of Nora, IL and Tara (Marshall) Brown of Germany; grandchildren- Haley and Seth Slamp , Bryana and Brytnie Szwalla, and Sofiya and Myra Brown, and sister Diane (Kevin) Ryan of Lena.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Claris Reed.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Leamon's Funeral Home in Lena, IL.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 am on Monday, December 31, 2018 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lena.

Officiating will be Father Michael Morrisey .

Interment will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Luncheon to follow services at the church.
