Obituary

Carol Metz, 80, of Orangeville went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus on Monday, March 2, 2015. She was born in Freeport on April 22, 1934, the daughter of Ray and Grace (Frank) Folgate. Carol graduated from Orangeville High School in 1952. She married Loral Metz on June 20, 1954 in Orangeville; together they raised their family and dairy farmed near McConnell. She displayed her spirit of adventure in recent years by pursuing activities such as a river raft trip, mountain helicopter ride, hot air balloon ride, and skydiving. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and enjoyed playing cards and travelling with her friends. She was a member of the Orangeville United Methodist Church and a founding member of the Mock-Orange Home Extension Unit.

Carol is survived by her children, Tim (Allison) of Ankeny, Iowa; Angie (Steve) Birr of Orangeville; and Michele (Stacey) Vorhes of Fishtail, Montana; grandchildren Andrew (Cait) Metz, Carolyn (Charlie) Warwick, Dallas Metz, Amanda Birr (Brian Christians), Zachary (Isabel) Birr, Logan and Travis Birr, Hannah Vorhes, and Jesse (Kylie) Vorhes; great-grandchildren Cheyanne, Abby, and Dane Christians and Annabelle Birr. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth Rockey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her sister Jean, and brothers Harold, Don, and Larry.

Visitation will take place on March 7, 2015 at the Orangeville United Methodist Church from 10 AM until the time of service.

Funeral service will take place at 1 PM followed by burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

A memorial for the Wounded Warrior Project has been established in her name.
