Brian L. Homb, age 65, of Warren, IL passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025. He was born on July 17, 1959, to Ralph and Marjorie (Eckerman) Homb in Freeport, IL. Brian was a 1977 graduate of Warren High School and then went on to attend Highland Community College in Freeport, IL where he obtained his associate degree. In 1985, he moved to Chicago, IL where he worked at the Chicago Tribune for many years in the pressroom. He worked his way up until he became the pressroom manager and stayed in that position until his retirement in 2014.
Brian enjoyed music, antiquing, finding deals online, and enjoying the nightlife. His siblings and him could often be found going out together or just hanging out. He was a dog lover but absolutely adored his two dogs. Brian was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Warren, IL.
Brian is survived by his 6 siblings- Bill (Marlene)Homb of Freeport, IL, Jerry (Mardell) Homb of Warren, IL, Daniel (Rita) Homb of Warren, IL, John Homb of Washington, WI, Kevin Homb of Rockford, IL, and Theresa (Scott) VenHuizen of Stockton, IL; Brother-in-Law Bob Gile of Cedarville, IL; 2 Goddaughters – Kimberly Reisetter of Rockford, IL and Rachel Linn of Independence, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters- Noreen Gile and Michelle (Bob) Lethean, 2 nephews- Shawn Homb and Jason Gile, and niece Julie Homb.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Warren, IL with a visitation from 9:30 until time of service.
Burial will take place at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery in Warren, IL.
Father Andrew Hernandez and Father Micheal Morrissey will be co-officiating the service.
A luncheon to follow the burial at the church.
Cremation Rites have been accorded.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
