Betty Lou Rupnow, 92, of Lena, IL passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2025. She was born to John and Louella (Raders) Johnson August 1, 1933, in Freeport, IL. Betty married Nathan "Ole" Rupnow on August 19, 1950, in Rockford, IL.

Betty was employed by the Freeport Journal Standard for over 30 years where she worked in the Classified Ads Department until her retirement and decided after a couple of years she wanted to go back and help part time.

In their younger years, Betty and Ole were a part of a couple different card clubs that would meet monthly.   She was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lena, IL where she helped maintain the church and bake many pies for the Strawberry Social. She was also very active in volunteering at My Friends Closet Thrift Store as well as the Friends Forever Humane Society in Freeport. She also enjoyed keeping a meticulous home and growing beautiful flowers.

She is survived by her two daughters Debbie (Terry) Fluegel of Dakota, IL and Linda (Andy) Gray of Freeport, IL; one son Craig Rupnow of Dakota, IL; 2 grandchildren, Amanda (Sean) Dougherty and Brian (Rebecca) Fluegel; 2 step grandchildren- Jason and Gena Gray; 3 great grandchildren, Evelyn Fluegel, Vivian Fluegel and John Edward Nathan Dougherty; 2 special friends, Russell Kundert and Phyllis Alexander

She is preceded in death by her parents, Husband Nathan in 2006, brothers and sisters: Elwyn Johnson, Lee Johnson, Delores Johnson, Jerome Johnson, Donald Johnson, Pete Johnson, Johnny Johnson' Gene Johnson, Joe Johnson, and Rita Smith

Per Betty's Request no services will be held.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A memorial has been established in her name for Friends Forever Humane Society in Freeport.
