Bernice I. Cox, 88, of Warren, IL passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Lena Living Center, with her family by her side. She was born on May 6, 1928 to Roy and Mabel (Polhill) Kohl in Lena, IL. Bernice married LaVerne D. Cox on May 31, 1946 in Freeport, IL. She was a member of the 464 Warren Wickler-Copeland Legion Auxillary, a past member of the Altar and Rosary society at St. Ann Catholic Church, and St. Ann Catholic Church. Bernice worked at Microswitch for 20 years. In her retirement, she went back to work for Microswitch for eight more years. She was a hard worker, who enjoyed helping with bingo at the Warren Legion. Bernice also enjoyed playing cards, camping, and spending time with her family and friends.

Bernice is survived by her children, Carol (James) Brown of Warren, IL, Thomas (Connie) Cox, of Forreston, IL, and Brian (Jane) Cox, of Moscow, ID; grandchildren, Christopher (Michelle) Brown, of South Elgin, IL, Melissa Brown of Warren, IL, Matthew (Rachel) Brown of Martintown, WI, Sara (Dan) Hicks, of Apple River, IL, Andrew Brown, of Warren, IL, Shawn Cox, of Cedarville, IL, and Cory (Heidi) Cox of Freeport, IL, Joey Cox of Madison, WI and Molly Cox of Mt Horeb, WI; step-grandchildren, Todd (Karen) Rowe, and Tonja (Doug) Hill, Chad (Siri)Henke, Jessica (Brad) Onischuk; great-grandchildren, Logan, McKenzie, Delaney, Alyssa, Baylee, Stephen, Zach, Piper, Jameson, Lance, and Morgan; step-great grandchildren, Kara, Joshua, Payton, Drew, Cari, Lakin, Brantley, Jaelynn, and Lexi; great-great grandchildren, Falicity, Colt, Luxi, Brody, Parker, Brady, and Scarlett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband LaVerne on September 4, 1990, siblings Albert (Joyce), Glen (Viola), Clifford (Irene), Carl (Sylvia), Eldora (Alfred) Blair, and Marjorie (Bob) Pfeiffer. In-laws; Elton (Ethel) Cox and Vivian (Ralph) Spurgeon.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren.

Visitation will be from 10 until time of services on April 8, 2017 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren.

Rev. Father Michael Morrisey will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Warren, IL.
