Anita Louise (Fieldstad) Ortgiesen, 77, of Portland, Oregon, formerly of Freeport, IL, passed away July 17, 2024.

Anita was born in Freeport, Illinois on February 3, 1947, to Leonard and Blanche (Long) Fieldstad. Anita graduated from Freeport High School (1965). In 1967, she married William Ortgiesen and had three children.  While married she lived in Germany, Illinois, Iowa and California. She moved to Oregon in the mid-90s to be closer to her sister.

Anita is survived by her children, Jennifer (Andrew) McBee of Portland, OR, Todd (Michelle) of Abilene, TX, and Chad (Heather) of Cedar Rapids, IA; grandchildren, Martin and Katherine; sister, Kathleen Fieldstad (Tom Grant) of Lake Oswego, Oregon.

Anita was a kind and compassionate person with a deep Christian faith. She loved her children very much and spent over twenty years raising them. She was very involved in their school and extracurricular activities and did so much for them. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and never met an animal she didn't love. She will always be remembered for her generous heart, the many delicious treats she made, her love of Pepsi, the many adventures she took her kids on, as well as her affinity for Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas.

The family would like to thank Anita's care home owner, Dr. Mesay Keltu, caregivers, Eden, Ruhama, Tesfaye, Alemzewd, Berehanu and Meaza, and the team at Providence ElderPlace for the comfort, care and support they provided Anita. They treated her like she was their family.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents.

To honor her memory, a celebration of life will be hosted from 10:00 AM with the service at 11:30 on Monday, August 5, 2024 at the Leamon Funeral Home in Lena, IL.

A private family burial will take place at Lena Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Oregon or to your local animal shelter.
