Alvin S."Wood" Durward, of Warren, age 79, passed away on Monday November 27, 2017 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Mt. Carroll, IL. He was born on March 16, 1938 in Rush Township to Lawrence and Gladys (Hartman) Durward. He graduated from Warren High School. He was a truck driver all of his life except for a couple years when he worked as a parts man at Carboughs Implement in Lanark, IL. In 1990 the Warren Chamber of Commerce picked him as citizen of the year.

He is survived by his sisters Virginia Niemeier and Pat Gates both of Lena, IL. Several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday December 4, 2017 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 11:30 am till time of service.

Officiating will be Pastor Bryan Odeen.

Inurnment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Warren.

A memorial has been established in his name.
