Allen Dale Heinkel, 90, of Lena, IL passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Lena Living Center. He was born on June 14, 1926 to Carl and Lillian (Dittmar) Heinkel in West Point Township. He attended Winslow High School. He was married on October 28, 1946 to Verena Wyss in the Parsonage of St. John's Lutheran Church by Rev. Louis Beto. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lena.

Allen is survived by his wife of 70 years, Verena; five children Richard (Kathy) Heinkel of Lena, VeAnn (Greg) Klipstein of Longmont, CO, Sandra Kay (Steve Hauser) Heid of Golden, CO, Dale (Linda) Heinkel of Freeport, and Lyle Heinkel of Lena; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harold, niece Beth, and son-in-law Sherman Heid.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lena.

Pastor Rick Bader will officiate the service.

Cremation rites were accorded.

Inurnment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for St. John's Lutheran Church.
