Alex M. Boelk, 17, passed away unexpectedly, September 17, 2016 at Midwest Medical Center in Galena, Illinois. Alex was born April 5, 1999 in Freeport to Dawn Toepfer and Brad Boelk. Alex was a senior at Warren High School. He loved music, drawing, movies, playing basketball with his friends, was very artistic, and enjoyed hanging out with family, friends, and his dog Zoey.

Alex is survived by his mother; Dawn Toepfer (Nick Field) of Apple River, his father; Brad Boelk of Warren, two brothers; Austin Toepfer and Brady Boelk, his grandparents; Ron (Jane) Toepfer and Lou Deyo, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was very close to his cousins Jesse Allendorf, Jade Tallman and Jared Kingery.

Preceded in death by his; paternal grandfather; Ron "Specker" Boelk, step grandpa; "Butch" Deyo.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the Apple River Event Center, Apple River, IL.

Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL.

Burial will be in the West Ella Cemetery, Apple River, IL

Pastor Roger Bronkema will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.
